Privacy Policy

Fold is a private exchange between two people — you each write one note to the same question, and neither opens until both have written. We are built to collect as little as possible, and there are no ads, no trackers, and no third-party analytics.
What we collect
- The name you enter when you start, shown to the person you fold with.
- The notes and titles you write. These are encrypted at rest; they are decrypted only to deliver a revealed exchange to you and the one person you’re paired with. They are never used for any other purpose.
- A random device identifier generated on your device (not your hardware ID), which is how we recognise you without a login.
- An Apple push token, if you allow notifications, so we can tell you when a note is ready to open.
- The pairing between you and the single person you exchange with.
What we don’t collect
No email, password, or account login. No location, contacts, photos, or microphone. No advertising identifiers and no cross-app tracking. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Where it lives
Your data is stored with our infrastructure providers (Vercel for the app, Neon for the database) and Apple’s push service delivers notifications. These providers process data only to run Fold.
Deleting your data
You’re in control. In the app, open Settings → Delete my data to permanently remove your profile, your notes, and your pairing. This cannot be undone. You can also email us and we’ll do it for you.
Children
Fold isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above.
